Does the Office of the Dean of Students process Academic Grievances?
Our office does not oversee the Academic Grievance process. However, we are available to assist students in understanding and navigating the appropriate procedures and resources related to academic grievances.
What financial assistance is available through Student Assistance?
The primary form of financial assistance offered through our office is the U&I Care Emergency Fund, which provides temporary, short-term support to students experiencing unforeseen financial hardship. Please note that this funding is not intended to cover tuition or university fees.
Are accommodations provided through your office?
No, our office does not provide academic accommodations. Students seeking accommodations should contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC), which is the designated office responsible for coordinating support and accessibility services.
When should I refer a student to your office?
Students should be referred to our office when they are experiencing challenges that may impact their well-being or academic success. This includes, but is not limited to, basic needs insecurity, significant life events or transitions, mental or physical health concerns, or when additional support is needed with academic strategizing and navigating university resources.
How do I meet with someone from Student Assistance?
To connect with a member of the Student Assistance team, please complete the Student Assistance Request Form. A staff member will follow up with you within 5–7 business days.
