Assistant Dean of Students
Assistant Dean of Students DuJuan Smith directs the Community Standards office. There he assists students in examining their personal and community integrity choices, makes U and I Care Emergency Fund decisions, and serves as an advisor to the Undergraduate Student Government. He additionally acts as a liaison to a number of campus committees and plays a leadership role within the Office of the Dean of Students.
His previous career choices include serving as Assistant Dean of Students for Semester at Sea, traveling with 600 students by sea to 12 countries in four months. He was the Assistant Dean of Students for University of Houston and Coordinator of Judicial Affairs at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. Dean Smith holds a B.A. in Applied Sociology, with a minor in Black Studies, and an MS.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Illinois University (NIU). He actively participates in leadership roles and selective cohorts in associations including ASHE, ASCA, NASPA, the Chicago Surge Fellowship, and the Chicago Scholars.
When not at UIC, Dean Smith is a doctoral student in the Higher Education Administration Ph.D program at Illinois State University (ISU). He is a proud and active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and currently resides on the South Side of Chicago.
